Homework for Jan 31-we played <<Qui suis-je?>> again and added to the sheet that we had started; we will play a final round tomorrow and it will be collected
-we corrected our sounds homework, then learned about nasals, semi-vowels, semi-consonants & glides; only the nasals were assigned for homework -we corrected the labels for the English sentences, then transitioned into French sentences; some of the English sentences were translated into French and we looked at similarities and differences of sentence structure and placement of words -for homework (in addition to the nasal sounds), please label the French sentences (nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs) as best as you can; the point is NOT to know what the words mean, but rather take guesses based on what we learned about sentence structure and word placement Homework for Jan 30-we played a a second round of <<Qui suis-je?>>; a reminder that this will eventually be collected as a completion piece

-I selected students at random to complete the dialogue with me -we played a game called <<Qui suis-je?>>, where I spelt names in French for students to write down; this sheet will eventually go into your portfolio (this is also a good way to practice your letters as well) -we went over the sounds that we learned yesterday, then learned the next four vowel sounds; if you did not already finish in class, please underline the letters in the words that create each sound for homework Homework for Jan 28-we learned the alphabet in French, then used it, along with the business card dialogue, to spell our name for two partners
-for homework, please practice spelling your name in full along with the dialogue -we learned about French sounds, and I provided examples on the board that demonstrate the various sounds -we learned about the first three vowel sounds and identified the letters creating the sounds on our handout; please complete this for homework if you did not get it done in class Homework for Jan 27-we opened with a quick survey of student preferences using images in a PowerPoint; we then talked about our experiences in French and student volunteers asked me questions

Homework for Jan 9-we corrected CA17
-the rubric for your menu & recipe project was distributed and we went over it -an additional handout was given specifically for the utensils vocab; it does not have to be complete, but there are recipes that can help give ideas for your project -all written work was handed in at the end of the period; for tomorrow, please ensure you have all the materials that you need to work on the project -tonight, please work on the images that you wish to add to your assignment tomorrow Homework for Jan 8-your <<C'est Moi!>> project marks were returned to you; those who had posters, please make sure to take your poster (if the back is clean, you can reuse it for a different project)
-we corrected CA18 -we learned about -RE verbs through a PowerPoint; we used whiteboards to practice conjugating the verbs and the full notes were provided after as a handout (please remember to change <<buvent>> to <<boivent>> for ils/elles on the slide for boire) -we discussed the difference between the infinitive (the verb when it is not conjugated, used for giving instructions to a unknown amount of people, tends to be used for recipes) and the command form of the verb (what Madame uses whenever giving instructions, ie <<levez la main>>) -the time remaining was for students to work on CA17, which practices the inifinitive -a reminder that next class will be for working on your menu & recipe assignment, which will be due Friday at the end of class Homework for Jan 7-your pizza sentences were returned; if you did not hand in your sentences, please ensure to show them to me ASAP
-we completed and corrected CA12-13 -we discussed specialties and the restaurants that have them (ie the Big Mac from McDonald's) -we made predictions on CA15, then watched the video clip to confirm -we watched the clip a second time to complete CA16 -please ensure CA18 is complete for next day Homework for Jan 6-your tests were returned and we went over them; please see me for yours if you were away
-Mme spoke briefly about your last two assignments: the menu & recipe, which will be started in class Thursday and finished in class Friday and the story assignment, which will take place on the double block days -we learned about how to list food and how to express flavors of food through notes that were distributed; I also projected them on the board and went over them -using CA14, students created a sentence expressing what they like on their pizza -on the same sheet as your original creation, I had students create three additional sentences with ingredients that I provided on the board; you also had to indicate whether you liked the pizza or not (these were handed in by the end of class) -please complete CA12-13 for next day Homework for Dec 19-we continued with presentations; if there are any still remaining, we will do them next class
-we discussed the types of information typically found in a menu, the shared our favorite dishes from different restaurants -students worked with cards of dishes and sorted them into different categories; we ended by the whole class trying to sort their set into ethnicities -we looked over the menus on L28-31, which featured the dishes from the card sort; we discussed each menu as well as some of the dishes and their ingredients Homework for Dec 18-we continued with presentations; we will hopefully wrap up next class

-using L10-11, we looked at more activities; we then listened to a song and identified which activities were featured in the song as well as in the livre (we also discussed which activities were in the song, but not in the livre) -we made observations about the verbs that were used to talk about the activities -time was given for students to complete CA13-14; we corrected CA14 only Homework for Nov 21-P4 only: we finished taking the personality test and did a survey of the class results; we then read the piece on JK Rowling and Mme provided a quick lesson on some of the names with French origins from the Harry Potter series

-using a projected image, we collaborated to create a description for the image using the verbs avoir and etre, body parts, colors and adjectives; this was copied down by the class -a rubric was given for a missing monster assignment (Disparu!); the description that we did as a class serves as a sample for students to work with -the remainder of the time was left to work on the assignment; you will also have tomorrow and the remainder of the class after our quiz next Tuesday Homework for Oct 9-we opened with a game where an image of monsters were projected and Mme described a monster in French; students had to guess which monster was being described
-we discussed key words to listen for with the images on CA18, then completed and corrected the listening activity -we then watched a video clip to confirm predictions in regards to M. LeBlanc's appearance -a handout was given on the irregular verb avoir; we went over the notes and students could add highlighting/underlining to their own copy -we ended class by completing a worksheet to help practice some of the expressions that use avoir; we will correct it next day Homework for Oct 8-we looked up our dictionary word for the day
-we reviewed the study guide on the website, as seen above -the time dominoes activity was returned; if you participated in the activity and did not get your sheet back, please make sure to show Mme your sheet if you still have it -as an intro activity, I showed a PowerPoint with images to have students go to different sides of the room depending on the description; we discussed afterwards that Mme was using adjectives -I put up two adjective groups on the board and we figured out the rules as a class -magnetic cards were given to each student and everyone had to find their color family, then figure out how the adjectives change (if there were changes); once each group had claimed a section on the board, a representative for each group explained the rules for their adjective group -we compared our findings on the board to the chart on CA49 -we added notes about BAGS (Beauty, Age, Goodness, Size) adjectives and Mme showed examples from the magnetic cards that fit into each category -we played a round of Quizlet Live Homework for Oct 7-we finished going over the etre notes

Students were instructed to watch the video carefully and record at least three things Chulo does as part of his morning routine (transitioning from Je to Il). Finally, students wrote their own morning routines using a combination of reflexive and non-reflexive verbs, along with the chronological linking words D'abord, ensuite, puis, and enfin. The relevance of this to the upcoming unit project was briefly mentioned.

Suggested binder organizationHaving your binder organized into different sections will make it easier for you to quickly locate different handouts or notes from class. Here is a suggestion for this class:
