-to ensure we have enough time to watch the Tintin movie tomorrow, we did Musique mardi; we had a discussion about things that are precious to us, then listened to Soprano -I randomly selected students to share their opinions (a reminder that your sentences will be collected later as a mark, so you are welcome to revisit the songs and expand your opinion) -I showed the class a Prezi about Geroges Remi, the characters of Tintin, and how the movie we are watching tomorrow came to be -you will be given photocopies of slides from two of the comics that the movie is based on and while watching the movie, you will need to put them in order of appearance Homework for Mar 4-the test was today; please make arrangements with me ASAP if you were away to make it up

-we did the practice dictee and went over it; the sentences in your test will be similar to the practice\ -we completed the listening activity on CA26, Partie B, then corrected both activities after -a handout of notes was given on negative expressions and we went over them -if you'd like to get a head start, you can attempt CA32 to practice the negative expressions -be ready for your test next class! Homework for Feb 29-we concluded the market dialogs; I will return your marks once I have them recorded
-we corrected CA22 (optional) as well as CA23-24; we discussed what is revealed about culture through the stamps on CA24 -in small groups, students discussed the objects they brought and we did a general discussion about Canadian money afterwards; I also showed the class a used transit ticket for the transit systems in Paris -students worked with their question making groups to create questions for the proverbs and accents section -students completed CA26A (we will conclude this activity next day) -a reminder that your poem is due next day and we will also be completing the practice dictee Homework for Feb 28-we continued with market dialog presentations
-I provided a handout to help you form an opinion for our Musique mercredi videos and went over it; please ensure that you keep all your sentences in a safe place as they will eventually be handed in for marks -we had our first Musique mercredi song and listened to Samian; volunteers shared their opinions afterwards -we discussed accents and how they can differ (Irish, British, Newfoundland, etc) and transitioned into accents in French -using a sentence that I read to the class as a base, we discussed the three different accents presented on the CD; we then did a listening activity to identify each speaker -please complete CA22-24 for next class (more important is CA23-24, so if you can't finish CA22, no worries) and please also bring an object that is either representative of Canada or of your own culture (suggestions are money, stamps, postcards, jewelry, stuffed animals, etc) -a reminder that tomorrow (Thursday) will be the last day to get corrections for your poems that are due Friday Homework for Feb 27-we continued with market dialog presentations; these will hopefully be wrapped up next class
-we concluded our discussion on proverbs by looking at a French proverb that shared similar wisdom to "Don't count your chickens before they hatch" -we completed and corrected CA17 -students completed CA18-19, then used L18-19 to correct the activity; we discussed some of the proverbs after Homework for Feb 26-the market dialog presentations were today; we will continue with remaining presentations next day
-students worked with their question making groups to create questions for the Francophone celebrities section -I introduced proverbs to the class; we had a discussion using examples provided on the board -a reminder that you have your test to prepare for next week and your Francophone celebrity poem is due at the end of this week (last day you can get corrections is Thurs) Homework for Feb 23-a test study guide was provided and we went over it; the dates have been added to the calendar

Homework for Feb 20-we corrected the rest of the forming questions handout; a second worksheet will be made available for those that want additional practice (as it is something you will be tested on eventually); you can download it from the Downloads & Assignment Info page or you can wait for the paper copies that Mme Zakus will put into the handouts folder
-we worked with our question groups to create questions for the food stalls -a new assignment was given when in groups of 2-3, you will create a dialog in an open air market; next class will be a work period Homework for Feb 15-the Francophone country assignments were due; please hand yours in ASAP if you were away or did not have it ready

-in small groups, students tried to brainstorm a variety of verbs and I slowly added categories to consider (regular vs irregular, verb groups); we discussed the verbs in general afterwards -a PowerPoint was shown to help review regular and irregular verbs; the notes were distributed afterwards Homework for Jan 30-we reviewed numbers in French, then played a game of BINGO; prizes were given to those that were able to get a line or four numbers in a row (to continue practicing numbers, use the number card set on Quizlet)

-we discussed the places where our family cars take us, and also discussed road trips and how far we have travelled -I showed the class pictures of a 1988 Volkswagon Westfalia, which is a vehicle that my family for a very long time and was our means of travel for many of our vacations -using L88-91 and CA19, students read information on cars and the memories associated with them; we corrected half of the exercise (those that want to get a head start on tomorrow's work can start completing CA18 & 20) -we will be doing another in class writing piece tomorrow on road trips (either one you have done or an imagined road trip); you can start preparing your list of verbs and vocab for next day Homework for May 10-for Musique mercredi, we listened to Buffy Sainte-Marie; students were randomly selected to share their opinions of the song (for a more modern song from Buffy, click here)

Suggested binder organizationHaving your binder organized into different sections will make it easier for you to quickly locate different handouts or notes from class. Here is a suggestion for this class:
-Cahier: have one section specifically for your workbooks which you will receive over the year -Notes: this will be for any notes that I give you in class on the whiteboard or the overhead projector -PowerPoints: I will be giving you a few PPTs over the year, and you can keep them all together here -Handouts: For any and all handouts you receive in class. -Assignments: For smaller projects/assignments that I return to you and for assignments that need to be handed in Musique mercrediLes videos for handoutMusic videos & influence on danceArretez!
